Flat Marble Canvas Art

This is a great, easy craft project that will make a unique 3D canvas artpiece perfect for a kids room or gallery wall. Customize it with your favorite colors and it can go anywhere!

March is National Craft Month.  It's true; I checked on Google.  What better way to jump into the month than to cross something off my list? This idea has been floating around in my head for the girls' room for a couple of years.  I've made nearly 100 magnets using these directions from Not Martha.  I wanted to use just the marble part without a magnet.  Here's what you'll need if you want to try your hand at it:

MATERIALS

I sold magents in my Etsy shop when it was running, and have given them as gifts.  To make this wall art, I followed all the same steps except for using a magnet.  I set them upside down on a cookie sheet so I can transport them easily.  The silicone is a bit smelly, so I like to leave them in the garage, or a bathroom with the fan on.

After the silicone dried I hot glued each gem to an 8x8 canvas.  Inspiration for their room decor will come from these colors.

Do think you'll make one? I kind of want to see someone do a really big canvas, not just an 8x8. If you take my challenge, be sure to send me a picture :)

  1. Saw your link on one of the linky parties and just wanted to say that I like it a lot - very unique looking and love the fact that it's 3-D! It's like a very fun take on specimen art (something I'm very obsessed with)!

  7. I love your marble canvas piece. Very cool and oh so pretty. Been looking for some ideas to use the flat marbles on a window to put outside and landed here. I'll save this idea for an indoor project. Thanks for sharing.
