The Cleanest Craft Desk

Are you all getting excited for our kitchen to be done?  Maybe just so I’ll stop talking about it?

Here’s what we had done on Saturday:

  • Microwave installed and a hole drilled in the roof to vent it properly
  • Oven hooked up (we cooked a frozen lasagna in it for dinner last night!)
  • Threshold put back in between the wood and tile floors
  • Baseboards and trim installed
  • Pantry door reinstalled

Then this morning the granite guys came with the counter and installed it.  It looks great!  I’ll snap a couple of pictures of it on Wednesday, after the dishwasher and faucet are installed.  Then we’ll have running water in the kitchen too.  Hallelujah!

In the mean time I’ll be showing you my little scrapbook area.  This fabulous Ikea desk would have been at least $350 if I’d crossed the river to Portland to get it, but instead I paid $75 to someone on Craigslist!  It doesn’t hold all my crafting goodies (things like my glue gun, felt and paint live in a set of drawers in my bedroom closet)  But it does hold my cutting machine, and that’s important!  Plus, I’m just thrilled to not have my supplies spilling all over the living room anymore.

My favorite organizing trick–wrap shoe boxes with brown packaging paper (I picked up a roll at the Dollar Tree) and they instantly match!  Spray painting cheap baskets works nicely too (these were half off at the $ store after Christmas one year.  They were red and green)

So there you have it, my cleanest desk.  Soon I’ll sit down to use it, and it will be like trying to re-fold a map–it never goes back exactly the way it came–and it will get kinda messy.  I’ll try though, I’ll really try!

Also, it’s voting time over on the Snap blog, so if you feel like voting for me, click here and then click on the star under my logo (#2)  Thanks!!  If you want to see my original post about the conference, click here.  You can even watch my video there.  I’m no Justin Bieber or Rebecca Black, but I’d say it’s not half bad!
