I'm up against some tough competition, but I'll get to show you my first project on Friday when voting opens. Wish me luck!
It was my duct tape boots that landed me my spot. A few of you were curious how they'd hold up (I was too) so I thought I'd provide a little update.
I've worn them several times since they got their makeover, and I'm happy to say they're doing quite well! There are a couple of places where the tape is getting a little worn, but because of the pattern, it's not noticeable when I'm wearing them. They're still not headed to the trash yet. Cool, right?
Wanna know something else cool? The lovely folks at Shurtec (makers of Duck Tape and Frog Tape as well!) happened upon my made-over boots, loved them, and sent me a whole box of duct tape goodies to play with!
One of my sisters was visiting last weekend and brought this bag with her. Let's just say it's seen better days, and really, anyone visiting my house should know they're not safe from me trying out a project on them.
The corners were showing some wear, and the straps were kind of hanging on by some threads. I reinforced them with some black tape and then covered the whole strap and each corner section with zebra tape.
Ta-da!

ReplyDeleteI'm excited to stumble across your blog! I'm a pacific northwest crafter myself. I'm going to go follow you, right now!
ReplyDeleteMy brother LOVES duct tape and actually gets new colors/types for gifts sometimes. Love the boots, and what a clever idea for the purse! It wasn't uncommon where I grew up to see people using duct tape on just about anything that was beginning to fall apart.
ReplyDeleteI have lived in the Pacific NW my whole life, and love it! Glad I stumbled across your blog, and I'm a new follower!:)
great idea! Thanks for sharing! Totally did not know you did some duck tape boots - I just posted about mine last night!!!! Except, I wasn't super happy about the "sticky-ness" of the tape so they probably won't send me a whole box of goodies... boooo. :( Maybe I could delete that part and cross my fingers that they'll happen upon me too! haha. Anyways, glad yours are holding up well and since this about the purse - I love it!!! and if you care, here's my boots: http://kammyskorner.blogspot.com/2012/03/zebra-duck-duct-tape-boots.html

I wish I had saved my threadbare bag! This is such a great way to give a bag new life. I usually use my bags until my family is embarrassed for me. Now I can make them last a bit longer!
ReplyDeleteThis is so fun. I'd never think to do something that cute or creative. I'd still be carrying around the old purse. Cute stuff.
