Recommend a Blog Reader

Over the last year as my blog has grown, so has the list of other blogs that I want to keep up with.  I've been using Google Reader--it was super easy since it was already linked to my blog, and automatically added blogs to my feed when I became a "follower" of that blog.

But I'm having a couple of issues with it (can't remove blogs I once subscribed to that now post about things I'm not interested in, and some blogs that I "follow" aren't showing up in my feed) and want to know what other people like out there.

Enlighten me please!  Thanks!

  1. If I don't want to read a blog any more I go to the little down pointing arrow next to the subscriptions and then click on manage subscriptions. You can delete blogs from there. If you've already tried that then, as usual, I am no help in the technology department. Not sure why you're not seeing the ones you want to read though...
And I think I saw you last night. Is that creepy? I was at the west stake center and saw this cute girl in the lobby and I thought "how do I know her?" when I realized I don't know you, I just read your blog. Not the same. That was you, right? I'll only know if you tell me since I chickened out on actually saying hi to you. Lame.

  2. I love Bloglovin! I can add blogs or unfollow blogs if I am no longer interested. My favorite feature is where I can "Like" certain posts so that I can go back and look at them later. It's like bookmarking your favorite posts. Hope this helps.

  3. Steph, I was having the same problem on stupid Google's blogger dashboard page, but I just found the solution: Go to your dashboard and there is a gear-looking thing on the right side of your so-called "reading list", immediately next to the words "view in google reader". Click the gear thing and it opens "Manage Blogs I'm Following". I clicked "settings" for one I want to un-follow, and a window popped open, which made me sign in, which is stupid, but then I was able to click "stop following this site" in the new pop-up window. It's NOT user friendly, nor is it all that easy. They really need to just have a "manage" option right on the dashboard page!! Or a 'delete' link... anyway, that's how I did it. Just in case you decide to stick with Google when this is all said and done.

  4. I just go to Feed Settings when I've clicked on a blog in Google Reader, and there's an "unsubscribe" option there. Cleared it right out.

  5. I still love google reader! it has gotten tricky since they phased out google friend connect for wordpress blogs. you can't unsubscribe from "blogs i follow" within google reader since they are linked to gfc and now any wordpress blog that you followed through gfc won't show up in reader anymore. with a few work arounds i still find it the best way to have everything all together plus i LOVE its keyboard shortcuts.
