Partial Wall Stencil and Giveaway
I've been plagued by this large wall in our front entry ever since we moved in. We used to have a large clock hanging there but it is now on a different wall. I thought about putting pictures all over the space, but I have a gallery type display already in this room.
The walkways from our living room that go to our hallway and our kitchen have this arch over them. (see the left side of the picture) I was pretty sure that trying to do a strong geometric pattern over the rounded arch would just look kind of goofy. My solution: just stencil part of the wall!
I got to try out this cool Cutting Edge Stencil called Missing Link and I used Calypso Orange (Delta craft paint).
With the input of some friends and the vote of my husband, I did a floor to ceiling section right where we have our mirror and entry table.
Working with the stencil was quite easy, especially after watching their stencil how-to videos. And remember, when they say that rolling onto a paper towel before the wall is a step that shouldn't be skipped, they mean it! You'll feel like there isn't any paint left on the roller, but there is, and this keeps it from seeping under the stencil letting you have nice crisp lines. I still got a little bit of bleed in a couple of places, but it was easy to touch up with my wall color later.
Here's something I did that might be useful to some of you too. To double check that the color you chose is one you'll like for the whole wall, paint a part of the pattern onto a square of plastic wrap. When it dries, hang it up on the wall and see what you think!
Now the exciting news for you. Cutting Edge Stencils would like to give a $50 credit to one of my readers to be able to go pick out their own stencil to try out at home and they'll ship it for free! (US residents only)

ReplyDeleteLove it Steph- It looks great. I didn't do a full wall either. I did a trim of yellow and white half way down my wall. If you don't want to do the whole wall, how about framing it in a white 2-3 inch trim around it all. Anyway looks great. hugs, jen
