PVC Pipe Toothbrush Holders

{How to organize toothbrushes}

When we remodeled our hall bathroom last summer I knew we had to come up with new toothbrush holders. We hated the long skinny counter that went all the way across the toilet tank so we made it disappear.  But that meant we were left with a tiny vanity, nearly no counterspace, and kids who weren't really tall enough to reach the shelves we'd installed.

That's when these toothbrush holders were born.  Hidden away on the inside of the cupboard door they are easily accessible and removable if we need them to be.

Making the toothbrush holders

1 inch pvc pipe
pvc pipe end caps (one for each holder)
command hooks

vinyl or stickers

pvc pipe cutter

drill (drill press is even better)

Cut pipe into 4.25 inch sections.

Drill a hole about 1/2 inch from the end, making sure it's on the "back side" where any printing is.

Drill holes in PVC

Wash the pipes.  Cut vinyl initials (or use stickers) to label each holder.  I cut mine to be 1 inch tall. Add end caps (they don't need to be glued on, and then you can disassemble them later and wash them out as needed)

Install command hooks on the inside of the cabinet door. Our vanity is small, so more may fit on your doors if you need them.  Let them set for 1 hour before hanging holders and toothbrushes.

Now hopefully you won't ever have toothbrushes go missing in the garbage cans!

  1. Those are so awesome! I might have to make some for my kids bathroom. I love the monograms on the front too.

  2. SO smart! I love how simple this will be to clean as needed, too.

  3. Great, simple solution - my youngest hates that his toothbrush has to "touch" everyone else's in our toothbrush cup so I am pinning this for sure and adding it to my HOney do list :)

  4. What a great idea! Our poor drawer that holds the kids' brushes has taken a beating from their abuse- this would be a great option to keep them organized.

  5. These are awesome! I think I might need to use this idea as well. Seriously! We are ALWAYS losing toothbrushes around here. Maybe if I had a place for them to go like this the girls would lose them less often.

  6. What a great idea for toothbrushes! Love it! =)

  7. so simple and so smart! We have like 30 toothbrushes and 5 kids, and no one can ever seem to find a toothbrush! GAH!

  8. Oh my goodness I can't tell you how much I LOVE this!! Thank you for sharing. My kids were always knocking their toothbrushes out of the flimsy little holder we have. This is the perfect solution! I'm pinning this to make later. Thank you so much!

  18. This is a GREAT idea!!! i have four boys and a small bathroom..not enough room. I always find one on floor or even in trash. This will be their own special place for their own brushes.. Thanks for sharing!!!

  19. My three boys have to share a bathroom, and their toothbrush drawer is a nasty mess of smeared toothpaste and more than half a dozen toothbrushes, half of which none of the boys will claim. I usually discover at least two crumpled paper cups and another toothbrush on the floor. Yuck! This idea is awesome. Thanks!

  27. I went to Lowe's to get the PVC pipe for this project. I was told by a Lowe's associate that PVC contains chemicals and should be used near anythjng you are putting into your mouth. Anyone ever heard of this before?

    1. I figured that we use pvc for plumbing, so water travels through it anyway. And then the toothbrush heads stick up out of the pvc and don't touch it even. I'm certainly not a scientist who's run any tests on it though! If you're still concerned, you could try hanging plastic drinking cups this way. Good luck!

  29. This is such a genius idea, and holy cow check out the number of pins! I actually included this in a PVC pipe roundup I recently posted. Thanks for the inspiration!

  30. Remember to place toothbrushes in the dishwasher. Especially after a cold!

  31. You must remember to rinse out the containers with bleach once in awhile because of the residue that collects in the bottom.

  32. Super Cute and Super Clever!!!

  33. What a great idea!! Love the personalization on them too!

  34. Love this idea. Would love to feature it on a blog post I'm planning on Small Bathroom Ideas. Would you mind if I used a photo and linked back to this post? Let me know
