Halloween Piano

We actually don't have a mantel in our house, but that was the theme for this month's Point of View.  So I decided to use our piano for my "canvas."  But, then our piano isn't a regular upright either,it's a digital piano (which I love--it isn't heavy and it never goes out of tune!) so that means there's not even a top "ledge" to use as decorating space.

The piano itself doesn't have a whole lot on it since we need room for piano books.  But I went vertical on the wall and still decorated the whole space.

Here's how it looks:

A close up of the wall shows off the painted screens, Halloween wreath, framed pumpkin and pink spider web.

For the wreath, you can find instructions on making the paper flowers in this post I did at Craftaholics Anonymous. Then the little banner just has pieces of orange and black washi tape folded over and cut to look like a flag at the bottom.

The framed pumpkin is a small foam pumpkin I cut in half and covered with book pages.  To hang it to the wall, I simply put a nail in the wall, and pressed the cut side of the pumpkin to it.  It went right in the foam and holds it in place.  It's surrounded by a purple frame.

Finally the last frame is a cheap wood one that I painted gold, put patterned paper in, then cut out a web and a spider.  They are attached with bits of foam tape so they look like they're floating off of the paper.

On the piano there's a bottle painted with chalkboard spray paint, a small birdhouse covered in orange and black paper, and a framed witch silhouette.

I hope this has given you a few ideas on how to decorate a piano for Halloween, and don't forget to visit the link party to share your mantel posts--decorated for any season (and yes, I've checked...manTEL is the correct way to spell it!)
