See Me at the Phat Quarters Blog Today!

I love meeting local bloggers, and I love showing off new blogs too!   If you love finding new creative souls, go check out the Phat Quarters blog.

I met Gemia (one of the crafty ladies over there) while working on the Festival of Nativties last year, and I loved all her beautiful song-lyric inspired boards that she used to decorate her space.

You'll also get to see the kids' jewelry holder I made for my girls!

PVC Pipe Toothbrush Holders

{How to organize toothbrushes}

When we remodeled our hall bathroom last summer I knew we had to come up with new toothbrush holders. We hated the long skinny counter that went all the way across the toilet tank so we made it disappear.  But that meant we were left with a tiny vanity, nearly no counterspace, and kids who weren't really tall enough to reach the shelves we'd installed.

Point of View--Organizing

It seems like a natural side effect of starting a new year is a desire to clean out and declutter every room in the house. The problem though, at least for me, is that I lose steam by the end of February and while my intentions were good, I never did make it though all the spaces I'd planned on.

POV-February-2013

Well, here's some good news: the theme for this month's Point of View and link party is Organizing.  So link up all your great organized rooms, closets, tips, tricks and let's be proud of all we've accomplished so far this year.  Then look through the other ideas and be inspired to keep going.

You can see instructions for my toothbrush holders here.

All the link ups will be added to our POV Pinterest board and if you missed the Point of View Door post, that link party is still open as well so any time you have a project involving a door you can go back and link up there.

Is it Spring Yet? (Quadra-Fire Pellet Stoves and a giveaway)

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of QuadraFire for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
We have lived here for nearly 4 years now, and every time I get a little tired of the rain, I just look at the weather where we used to live in Utah.  Then I'm glad that it's not snowing or below freezing!  Still, I find myself sleeping in socks most of the time.  Wouldn't it be dreamy to have a master bedroom with a fireplace in it?
If you've thought of adding some extra heat to your home, now may be a great time to look into QuadraFire Pellet Stoves.  The tax credit which expired Dec. 31, 2011 was reinstated on Jan 3, 2013.  So if you're not out of the cold weather yet, this may be the perfect option for you.
Don't know much about pellet stoves?  Here's some information about this popular heating alternative:
  • QuadraFire Pellet Stoves are the quietest and and easiest to operate on the market
  • Their stoves and inserts are designed with with both effiency and beauty in mind
  • The system of burning and re-burning gasses it helps reduce your carbon footprint
Pellet Stoves are Awesome
Find Quadra-Fire on Pinterest, Twitter and Facebook
Just for fun, Quadra-Fire would like to send one of you a journal sized notebook made from recycled materials!  Simply leave me a comment on why you would like a Quadra-Fire stove in your home.  Winner to be selected Wednesday, February 27th at 8 pm pacific time.  US residents 18 and older are eligible to win.  Good luck, and stay warm!

Lacy Vinyl Jar

Some time ago I painted the inside of this jar with blue paint and I love the color.

It seemed like it needed a little something extra lately though so I busted out the vinyl.   It was so easy too!  I just found a border file that I liked, sized it so it would fit all the way around my jar and cut it out.

Then I wrapped it around the jar and did my best to line up the ends--but it's in the back to it didn't have to be perfect.

Do you have any jars around your house that could use a little vinyl touch?

Puff Pastry Valentine Dessert

If you're still looking for a fun little dessert for your Valentine's Day dinner, I have the perfect solution for you.  What's great is that not only does it taste divine, it's way easier than it may look.

You just need these 3 ingredients and a heart cookie cutter.
Vanilla ice cream, Puff Pastry sheets and Boysenberry syrup.(though any kind, including chocolate is good...but trust me on the boysenberry. So good!)

Let the dough defrost, per package instructions (about 40 minutes sitting on the counter)  This lets you unfold the dough without it breaking.

Cut heart shapes in the dough and transfer carefully to a lightly sprayed cooking sheet.

Bake at 400 for 10-15 minutes until golden brown.  Set to cool on a rack.

Once cooled, split in half with a fork and put the bottom piece in a bowl.

Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream then the top half of the heart puff.  Drizzle with syrup and serve.  Then enjoy the praise :)

Let me know if you try it, and what the favorite syrup flavor ends up being at your house.

Harry Potter Birthday Party

Over the last couple of weeks I've posted bits of the Harry Potter birthday party I was planning for (and with) my 9-year-old.  And since today is her actual birthday, it's the perfect time to share this post.

Cool Door Projects (Point of View Features)

I picked a couple of links I wanted to show you from the Point of View party last week--but it's still open, so if you want to go add your own, you still can.

I love the fun bright color of this turquoise painted door by Anne at DesignDreams.

And McKenzie from Girl Loves Glam created a cool feature bookshelf with her old door.

Aren't those great!  Hopefully you got some great ideas from our posts and the link ups, and maybe added one to your to-do list.
