{Refreshing Fruit Bars as a hiking treat}
Now that the weather's warmed up, and it's been a pleasantly dry spring/summer, we have been scheduling in hikes whenever we can. Often it's on a Saturday, but we'll go somewhere close after work during the week sometime too.

Last weekend we did the trail around Round Lake. Instead of our regular granola bar or crackers at the end of our hike I packed a cooler with Fruttare Fruit Bars (Lime, Strawberries and Milk, and Berries and Milk.) I picked them up at Safeway, and there were $1 off coupons right there too--bonus! But you can find them in many different stores nationwide.

I bought a block of dry ice to make sure they stayed totally frozen when we got back to the car. You can find dry ice at lots of grocery stores for about $7. Call ahead if you want to make sure your store has it.

It worked and they were so good!  I loved knowing that after our good-for-us hike we were enjoying a treat with milk and fruit juice. As you might expect, the bars with milk were smooth and creamy, and the lime bars were tangy and refreshing.

With 7 more delicious frozen fruit bars like Peach & Milk, Black Cherry, and Coconut and Milk (the next one on my list to try) you're sure to find a favorite too. Where would you like to eat them?

  2. A great enticement for those reluctant ones who'd rather not hike! (Wonder if it would work on my husband.)

  3. Hiking sounds fun. I've seen these around but wondered if they were any good. Now I know to pick some up. Thank you.
