Ok friends, Christmas is fast approaching and I'm sure you all have lots of fun things planned, but it turns out that housework doesn't really take a vacation. And that floor cleaning just has to get done!
So let's get in there and make quick work of some of our cleaning jobs so we can get on to the fun parts. I'm going to tell you a few tricks for making your house sparkle by taking care of the things that make the biggest difference.
1-Tackle clutter on large surfaces, floor first. I hate tripping over things as I'm walking around, so I always start with the floor. Then work on the coffee table, counter, etc.
2-Designate a basket for each bedroom. Place items from your main rooms into the baskets instead of running to each bedroom several times. (If residents of those bedrooms are old enough they can be in charge of putting them away there.)
3-If you're working on dishes, rinse and stack dishes on the counter before putting them in the dishwasher. Loading the dishwasher actually goes a lot faster when you grab a whole tower of cups from the counter and 1-2-3 line them up on the rack, instead of taking them one by one from the sink. If you don't believe me, give it try!
4-Vacuum or mop. Almost all of my flooring is a hard surface: tile and laminate wood. I used to have a really poor system of trying to wrap a damp cleaning cloth on the end of a floor sweeper, but it never stayed on well and I couldn't use much pressure to scrub dirty areas. Now that I've been using the O-Cedar ProMist I can do my hardwood floor cleaning in no time flat. Fill the bottle with just 2 TBSs of your cleaning solution and the rest with water. The washable pad sticks to the bottom of the mop with no problem and is easily removable to rinse or toss in the washing machine.
5-Enjoy your work by freshening up the room with a wax warmer or scented candle and get on with your holiday entertaining, crafting, or family time.
You can pick up your own O-Cedar ProMist from the household cleaner aisle of Walmart (and if you're lucky like me your kids will love to use it too!)
