Big Hero 6 Movie Night

Now that we’re feeling all settled in our new house, it was time to have a movie night with the newly released Big Hero 6. We made it a whole family party with snacks and a little activity to make them think.

The kids’ school is right by Target, so it was super easy to swing by and pick up the DVD when it released on Tuesday.

For our snacks I grabbed some red, purple and white treats, all inspired by Baymax. Even our plates were red!

Melt some purple candy melts and dip the ends of large marshmallows. Cut some red paper straws in half and push them into the marshmallows. Then pop some popcorn and spread it out on some foil. Drizzle melted candy over the popcorn and let it cool.

When the movie was over, I asked the kids what makes a hero. We talked a little about courage, caring for others and being a good example. I pulled out these cards that I printed out (leave them white or add a red cardstock backing.) We all thought about someone we know who we considered to be one of our heroes and wrote a little thank you note to them.

Have you seen the movie yet? Do you like the idea of having your kids think of heroes that they already know? Tell me about it!
