DIY Glitter Glass Jars || www.craftingintherain.com

I love being creative. Part of the fun is finding ways to use free supplies around your house. You save a bit of money and a bit of landfill space. Plus, living in the Pacific Northwest, you can’t help but be more conscious of the environment.

In the same spirit of recycling, Energizer’s EcoAdvanced longest lasing alkaline batteries are the first on the market to use recycled batteries/materials. You can find them easily in a battery kiosk at Walmart.

Batteries with recycled material

My most recent recycling craft was to make these glitter vases out of salad dressing jars. If you want to make some too, you’ll need these things:

Clean glass jars
Floor wax
Fine glitter
Cardboard tube (paper towel, wrapping paper, etc)
Fake flowers

Pour some floor wax into a jars and rotate to make sure the inside is completely covered and pour out the extra back into the bottle, letting most of the drips drain out as well.

Then add some glitter in and rotate the jar again. Add more glitter if there are any bare spots. Pour excess glitter back in the container. Let dry overnight.

The glitter can still flake out of these though, so place a cardboard tube inside the jar before adding flowers. I did that here and this way the stems won’t scratch of the glitter on the sides of the jar.

These new batteries are available in AA and AAA (perfect for all the remote control toys that my son and husband love so much 🙂

So I’d love to hear what’s the last upcycling craft project you did?
