DIY Book Tote

I’m sure most of you have kids who love to read, just like my kids. Now that we’re into our busy school schedules, I want to make sure that we still get to the library often. So I made a cute book tote to make it even easier for the kids to bring home books from the library. Keep reading to see how SunnyD can help you get free books for your school, too!

To make the bag you’ll need a canvas tote bag, iron on vinyl, a cutting machine like a Cricut, and an iron.

Design your cut out and make sure you mirror the image before you cut, because the vinyl goes face down through the machine.

I found a stack of books in Cricut Design space and added the words “My weekend is all booked.” Cute, right? Weed out the letters and books from the design. Then center the vinyl onto your bag. Use a hot iron, without steam, to press down on all parts of the design, about 20 seconds each section. Pull up a corner of the clear backing to make sure the vinyl is sticking down. Then remove the entire backing and your bag is done. Head off to the library to fill it up!

And since we can all agree, the more books the better, you'll love SunnyD’s Book Spree program, which is running for its 9th year. I picked some up while shopping at Target. My kids love taking a bottle to school in their lunches, or having some in the afternoon while they’re reading a book outside.  Here’s how you can help your kids’ teachers (grades K-7) get even more books in their classrooms.

      • Step 1: Parents clip and collect eligible SunnyD UPC labels.
      • Step 2: Parents send UPC labels with their child to a participating teacher.
      • Step 3: Teachers collect UPCs, fill out the entry form and mail both to SunnyD.
      • Step 4 - SunnyD sends books to participating classrooms (limit of 20 books/classroom). Don’t Delay - Book Spree ends 11/30/2015

Just collect SunnyD labels and send to your child’s teacher. Teachers will then send the labels into SunnyD to get free books. For every 20 labels received, SunnyD will donate 20 free books. (Expires on 11/30/2015 or while supplies last.)

So get out there and read up, drink up, and get some extra books in the classroom! Do you have a cute bag for the library?
