DIY Book Tote

I’m sure most of you have kids who love to read, just like my kids. Now that we’re into our busy school schedules, I want to make sure that we still get to the library often. So I made a cute book tote to make it even easier for the kids to bring home books from the library. Keep reading to see how SunnyD can help you get free books for your school, too!

Cinnamon and M&M's® Cookie Bars

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #BakeInTheFun#CollectiveBias

Fall is the perfect time to start experimenting with recipes because no one minds having the oven on. The cinnamon smell that filled my house while I was baking these cookie bars was simply amazing.

Easy Chicken Bacon Pasta

Raise your hand if you're on the lookout for easy dinner ideas these days. I know I am! With the kids back in school, it means we also have piano lessons, basketball and homework to worry about. Plus I'm in school too! I'm taking 4 online classes and that time definitely adds up.

Colorful Bathroom Update

We moved into this house back in February, and it was definitely a blank slate for us. The house is about 12 years old, but the walls have never been painted anything but white. We revamped the whole main level with paint, new floor, new counters and new hardware in the kitchen. Most of the upstairs has been left alone so far because, frankly, we needed a break!

Breakfast Solutions and School Routines

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #FuelForSchool #CollectiveBias

So how’s everyone doing with their new school routines? It’s been a crazy few weeks full of firsts around here. Emily started middle school. Meagan and Asher are at a new elementary school since we moved. Steve started teaching early morning seminary (high-school aged church class held before school every day.) And I started my online classes for my web design degree. As you can imagine, I’m looking for ways to make life easier for all of everyone, including me!

Classic Fudge Recipe

The quintessential holiday treat is fudge. At least it is for me. So I want a recipe that's fairly easy, but very tasty. I'm not wasting calories on grainy or bland fudge! This is the recipe my mom always made when we were growing up, so now I make it too.

Edge-Lit LED Nativity

We were sent an X-Carve machine from Inventables to review. All thoughts and opinions are ours alone.

We've got another X-Carve tutorial for you today. This is one that Steve dreamed up, and it turned out even better than we imagined! It's a nativity carved into a piece of acrylic, then set in a wooden stand that includes a strip of LED lights.

How to Build Craft Room Shelves

{DIY craft room storage}

I've been working on making my craft room (the bonus side of our bedroom) a more functional space. My first order of business was to go through all of my boxes, baskets and bins to sort out all my supplies and see what I really had, and what I really wanted to keep. When I grouped all my paint together, I knew I wanted some better paint storage than just boxes. They were hard to get to and it was hard to see what I had.

DIY Ikat Canvas Painting

This is just about the easiest art project you can do, and it's a great way to bring some personalized color to your decorating. If I can do this, anybody can!

Here's what you'll need:
Canvas (often on sale, or use a coupon, at your craft store)
Paint brush (a decent one--doesn't need to be super high quality, but not a 25c foam brush either)
Paints --a Dark, Medium and Light color. (I used DecoArt
soft jade, coastal waters, and deep turquoise)

Water for rinsing
