Fun with Foam Beads

This kid craft is great to keep little hands busy. Think Thanskgiving kid table, car trips. We actually had these at my sister's wedding this summer too.

All you need is pipe cleaners and foam beads (found the dollar store.) You may need to show very small children how to thread the beads onto the pipe cleaner, but other than that, let their imagination take over!

Some of the creation possibilities include a bracelet,

a bookmark,
which doubles as a magic wand,

a frame.

What will your kids make?

Let them loose with these other pipe cleaner craft ideas too:

Here are a couple more of kid crafts you might like:

I hope you'll try one of them!

Keeping Kids Hydrated at School

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #PureLifeRippleEffect #CollectiveBias

My oldest daughter’s favorite drink has always been water. It’s been nice that I never had to worry about her drinking too much juice, and as a family we just don’t drink much soda anyway.

She has started middle school this year and most of her classes are out in portables, which means she doesn’t have access to a drinking fountain most of the time. I wanted to make sure she still has water to drink during the day though, so I picked up some Nestlé® Pure Life® water bottles from Walmart for her to take in her lunch.

I let her choose some fun colored tape to wrap around them too (which will make sure her bottle doesn’t get mixed up with anyone else’s at school).

I keep several in the fridge so there’s always a cold one for her to grab in the morning. Here are some of the other items she likes to have packed in her lunch.
  • Peanut butter and honey sandwich
  • cheese
  • sliced apples (with Fruit Fresh)
  • crackers
  • a small bag of cookies.

In a survey recently conducted by Nestlé® Pure Life®* 33% of kids find it hard to remember to drink water without reminders and 25% of kids age 6-12 choose soda as their preferred drink, while 23% choose water.

To help children get enough water, licensed dietitian and nutritionist Robin Plotkin, suggested to have cups, straws, lids and other drinking "equipment" available to provide to your kids to make drinking water more fun. 29% of moms surveyed* say that "fun tactics" would get their kids to drink more water. What's a fun tactic? Try storing a disposable cup or water bottle on a low shelf or in the side door of the refrigerator and label it with your child's initial. Or, use a favorite character sticker or trinket or even designate a special space in the fridge just for your child's water!
This is what we try to do. The duck tape is a perfect fun tactic for decorating our water bottles.  The kids find it super fun to grab a bottle and go. It is a win for everyone! Nestlé® Pure Life® helps moms and kids remember how important it is to drink more water.

Space Art Crayon Resist

{Space Craft for Kids}

Over the summer, The Crafting Chicks did several week-long themes of posts with kid craft and snack ideas. I signed up for Space Week and created this tutorial for a space kid craft.

You just need a few supplies:
Crayons (name brand works best)
White cardstock
Paintbrush
Black water color or watered down craft paint
Paper towels

Start by coloring a space scene on the cardstock. Stars, planets, shooting stars, rockets, aliens, etc. Color them in completely with the crayons.

Brush over the whole paper with the black water color. The waxy crayon won't absorb the paint and it beads up a little.

Pat with a paper towel to clean off paint that beads up on the crayon.

Let dry, and display your beautiful space picture.

I love how Asher's turned out! Notice how he used a white crayon to make the moon?

I hope you'll have fun with this space craft! To go along  it, you could also make this bright and colorful planet mobile

Halloween BOO Kits with Printable Cards

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #BOOItForward #CollectiveBias

Spread Halloween holiday cheer by BOO'ing your neighbors! My kids helped me deliver them and had the best time running and hiding in the dark after we left our treats at the door.

Using the free cards found on BOO it Forward makes it nice and easy too.

  1. Cut out this "We've been BOO'd sign.
  2. Fold the "You've been BOO'd" greeting card (page 2) and tape openings together.
  3. Include the card and sign when gifting BOO bundles.

Books Like The Night Circus

Have you read The Night Circus? Did you like it? I loved the story, the atmosphere, and all the delicious details.

Cover of The Night Circus

"The circus arrives without warning.

No announcements precede it, no paper notices on downtown posts and billboards, no mentions or advertisements in local newspapers. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not.

How to Get a Post Link Before it's Live on Blogger

Have you ever needed to share a post link with someone before the post has been published?

Maybe you need to send it to the host of a blog hop so that all the posts are linked to each other on the right day?
Then.....have you ever discovered that your link was broken and no one could click to your site because something went wrong?  (I've been there...I know!) THE.WORST.
