Personalized Kids Coasters with Cricut

Whether you’ve just gotten out for summer vacation like us, or you’ve been enjoying pool time for almost a month now, summer is the perfect time for extra craft projects. I’ve teamed up with some of my fellow Cricut bloggers to bring you a dozen great ideas for something you can work on this summer. (Remember that some of these links will be affiliate links, and if you buy something I get a small percentage, so thanks bunches!!)

For my Cricut project I made personalized coasters for my kids. They will each have their own designated place to put a cup all day long. So hopefully it will prevent them from getting a new cup out 15 times a day, leaving those cups all over every flat surface in the house, and then having the dishwasher fill up with only cups! What do you think? Do we have a chance here? I’m going to find out (and 2 days in, so far so good.)

Anyway, here’s what you’ll need:

Plastic coasters (I found a 4-pack at the dollar store, so check there first!)
1×6 board (cut to the right length to fit the number of coasters you need)
Paint or stain
Vinyl
Transfer tape
Cricut
Hot glue

Start by painting or staining the board. I had this pink board left over from another project and repainted it a pretty dark blue/ gray color.

While the paint dries, measure the inside of the coaster and create a circle the same size in Design Space. This will help you size the names right.

Choose your font (I used Everyday Fonts- Something to Shout About) and type each name, using the circle as a sizing guide.

Cut the vinyl and use transfer tape to apply to the insides of the coasters.

Click here for detailed instructions on how to use a Cricut to cut vinyl.

The last step is to use hot glue to attach the coasters to the board.

Optional: Put small rubber feet on the bottom of the board to prevent sliding.

Love this project but don’t have a Cricut? Well today is your lucky day! I’ve joined a talented group of bloggers and we are giving away Cricut Explore and Everything Starter Kit Bundle! (Click the link to see everything included)
