Do you love experimenting in the kitchen by tweaking traditional recipes? It can be especially fun making up new treats for the holiday I think. I have two creative Rice Krispies treats recipes I'm sharing with you today, plus a cute festive way to package them up. They'll be perfect for giving to friends, neighbors and teachers.
The next time you're at Target you need to pick up the following:
Kellogg's Rice Krispies
Kellogg's Cocoa Krispies cereal
Kellogg's Rice Krispies cereal with Red and Green Krispies
Soft peppermint candy
Striped Rice Krispie Treats
Spread a bit of butter on the bottom of two cookie sheets. Pour 3 cups Cocoa Krispies in one bowl. Pour 3 cups original Rice Krispies in another bowl. In a third bowl, empty 1 bag of marshmallows and add 3 TBS butter. Melt for one minute in the microwave. Stir and heat for another minute. Pour marshmallow mixture, split in half to each of the bowls with cereal, and stir them separately. Press two different mixes in different sheets. Let them cool then place one layer on top of the other and cut down the middle. Then stack them again. Cut into pieces.
Peppermint Crunch Rice Krispie Treats
Place about 30 mints in a bag and crush with a rolling pin. Melt 1 bag of marshmallows and 3 TBS butter in microwave. Heat for one minute, stir, and heat for another minute. Fold in 6 cups of Rice Krispies and candy pieces. When completely coated, press into a buttered pan. Cut when cool and package as desired.
It probably won't surprise you that I found all these pretty things in the dollar spot at Target. Even if you don't find these exact items, just grab some tags and boxes or bags to wrap up your festive Rice Krispie Treats.
