Foot Soak and Lemon Scrub

Home Pedicure by Crafting in the Rain

A couple of months ago, Ashley put together a great series called Love Yourself Pretty.  Each post was about taking care of yourself somehow, and feeling pretty.  Our bodies, minds and spirits all need attention, and I posted about a great way to pamper your feet that can really take a beating.

For under the cost of one pedicure, you’ll have supplies to do several at home, and if you have 20 minutes to surf the internet at the end of the day, you have time for this too.

At Home Foot Soak by Crafting in the Rain

Supplies to buy, though you may have some already:
Epsom salt………..$3
Peppermint oil……….$5 (I found mine at New Seasons. Most health food stores have oils, or there are direct companies you can buy from)
Marbles………….$5
Bucket large enough for both your feet (like a plastic dish tub)…………… $3
Nail polish……………$8
Lemon……………33c

These other items you likely have on hand:
Olive oil (can be the cheap kind) and sugar
Nail file
Towels
Rubbing alcohol
Qtips

File nails and do the following prep work:

  • In a bowl mix 1/4 cup sugar with 4 teaspoons olive oil.
  • Cut a lemon in half.
  • Lay a towel on the floor and put the bucket on top. Have another towel nearby.
  • Fill bucket 1/2 – 3/4 full with warm water.
  • Add 1/2 cup Epsom salt, 4 drops of peppermint oil and mix.  Pour marbles into the bottom of the bucket.

Now soak as long as you like, letting the marbles massage the bottoms of your feet.

Lemon Sugar Scrub by Crafting in the Rain

When you’re ready to scrub, spread about a small amount of the sugar mixture onto the cut end of a half lemon and rub it around on your foot, focusing on heels or other rough spots. Repeat with the other foot, adding sugar as needed.

Rinse your feet off in the bucket and pat dry with the other towel.  Clean nails with alcohol and Qtip (so there’s no oil left on them which will make it harder for the polish to stick) Paint nails and let dry.
